A Diploma in Mental Health and Addiction Worker prepares you for a career in social services. Graduates can work in addiction treatment centers, community prevention programs, family resource centers, mental health facilities, hospitals, and correctional facilities. Graduates are eligible for registration as Canadian Certified Addictions Counselors (CCAC). In partnership with Canadore College, Oshki-Wenjack’s blended delivery method allows you to stay in your home community while earning a Mental Health and Addiction Worker Diploma. You will develop the skills necessary to promote the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through online and independent study, attending classes in Thunder Bay twice per semester.

The Application Process

Applying to a course with an Accreditation Partner has multiple steps:

Fill out the Oshki-Wenjack Application Form

This Oshki-Wenjack application form will start the process and will ask for detailed information such as:

  • Your high school transcripts and (if applicable) post-secondary transcripts. These can be uploaded using the application form but can also be submitted afterwards to admissions@oshki.ca or requested on your behalf.
  • Your Social Insurance (SIN) Number
  • Your Community’s Name and Band Number

You will receive a confirmation within four business days.

OSHKI APPLICATION
Apply to the program with
Canadore College

Fill in a separate Canadore application and send it to recruitment@oshki.ca. (Do Not make an OCAS application for Canadore programs.)

Tuition Payment or Funding

Please keep in mind that books are not included in tuition and need to be purchased separately.

Getting funding for this program?

Contact your First Nation community funding agency to confirm deadlines for funding applications and apply for funding. Your application may only be considered if your application is received on time.

Oshki-Wenjack is not responsible for submitting your funding applications, but staff can support you in completing them. You may also wish to apply to OSAP for loans and grants. In addition, Oshki-Wenjack’s Financial Aid Officer (financial-aid@oshki.ca) is available to assist you with OSAP applications and to help you research and apply for scholarships and bursaries.

Once it arrives, send your confirmed sponsorship letter to admissions@oshki.ca. You can register for your classes once the Sponsorship Letter is received.
