Instructions for Practical Nursing Graduates

The Pinning Ceremony is a special moment to celebrate the dedication, compassion, and commitment that have brought you to this point in your nursing journey. It’s a time to reflect on all you’ve learned, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the people who’ve supported you along the way. As you receive your nursing pin, you’re taking an important step into a profession built on knowledge, care, strength, and service to others. Congratulations—we’re so proud of you and can’t wait to celebrate this special achievement with you!

Time:
11:00 to 2:00 pm
Location:
Best Western Plus Nor’Wester Hotel & Conference Centre, 2080 Hwy 61, Thunder Bay

Graduate Arrival

Graduates must arrive no later than 10:00 a.m.

Please allow enough time to:

  • Check in with staff
  • Receive your pinning ceremony instructions
  • Find your assigned seat
  • Prepare for the processional and ceremony
  • Take any necessary photos before the ceremony begins

The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m.

What to Wear

Please wear a professional nursing gown and cap, suitable for the formal pinning ceremony

  • Please DO NOT use scented products as we have staff with serious sensitivities. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in creating an inclusive and comfortable environment for all attende
  • Leave all bags, valuables, and PHONES with  your family, friends, or supporters.

During the Ceremony

  • Remain in your assigned seat until you are called forward.
  • Follow staff instructions for the processional and pin presentation.
  • Please keep cell phones on silent.
  • Guests are welcome to take photos from their seats.

Reception

Following the ceremony, please join us for a complimentary reception with light refreshments, photo opportunities, and time to mingle with fellow graduates, family, and friends.
