Student Recruitment
There are three distinct stages in the recruitment process at OSHKI:
Instructional Services
Our instructors have a passion for teaching First Nations students and come from very diverse backgrounds; many are First Nations people. All of them recognize the unique learning needs of our students and design their respective curriculum to help students succeed.
Gordon Kakegamic, E-Learning Coordinator, provides group and individual training and support for OSHKI's e-learning platforms and tools.
Student Peer Tutoring is available to assist students with their studies.
Student Services
Providing ongoing student academic support is a key to educational success. The Student Support Worker works closely with the students providing support, direction and motivation. The Student Success Initiative was established to ensure student retention and successful completion of studies within a student-centered environment. OSHKI sees the direct correlation between the level of student personal and academic support and student post secondary program retention.
Program Evaluation
Excellence in post-secondary academic programming is a cornerstone of the mission and vision for Oshki-Pimache-O-Win. As an integral component of quality assurance, OSHKI utilizes a program performance framework in partnership with Colleges to review and renew post-secondary academic programs. The process identifies areas for improvement and innovation, and ensures program responsiveness to cultural, economic and societal needs, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Framework for Programs of Instruction, as well as the expectations of students and employers.
Program Delivery
The accredited postsecondary education programs are selected to meet individual and community needs and are delivered through an innovative combination of on-campus sessions and distance delivery (elearning) platforms that include audio conferencing, video conferencing, Centra Virtual Classroom and the Moodle Open Source Online Learning.
