About Thunder Bay

The City of Thunder Bay is strategically located near the geographical centre of Canada, on the shore of Lake Superior and overseeing the Sleeping Giant landmark.  Thunder Bay is the 10th largest city in Ontario and the largest metropolitan centre in Northwestern Ontario. The population of Metro Thunder Bay is approximately 125,000 and is made up of a diverse multi-cultural base.

About Nishnawbe Aski Nation

OSHKI Catchment Area

OSHKI's primary catchment area is the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) territory and surrounding area.

NAN encompasses James Bay Treaty 9 territory and Ontario's portion of Treaty 5. NAN has a total land mass covering two-thirds of Ontario spanning an area of 210,000 square miles.

The total approximate populaton of NAN First Nation members (on and off reserve) is 45,000.

The people of Nishnawbe Aski traditionally speak Ojibway, Cree, and Ojicree.
