“Providing education that is culturally relevant is always at the forefront at Oshki-Pimache-O-Win.”
Howard was so impressed with Oshki-Pimache-O-Win’s efforts to provide a culturally relevant education while building capacity within the communities that she joined the Institute in 2007 after serving as an instructor for a number of years.
“For me, as a teacher, Oshki-Pimache-O-Win is the best,” says the Student and Program Coordinator from Thunder Bay. “I try to teach at least one course every year as an opportunity to spend time with the students.”
Howard enjoys the atmosphere at Oshki-Pimache-O-Win, noting that she often hears students laughing in the classrooms.
“You just have to look at the student studying in the computer room with her young daughter. That in itself tells a story.”
