Partner Relations
Partnership agreements are negotiated with mainstream colleges and universities to collaborate in meeting the learning needs of the people in Nishnawbe-Aski Nation. These agreements provide provincial accreditation to the programs OSHKI delivers. This means the certificates and diplomas granted to our graduates are recognized as quality academic credentials. Academic credentials are required by most funding agencies in order to financially sponsor students. Our students and alumni can also apply for advanced standing in similar college or university programs.
Current partnership agreements:
- Cambrian College, Sudbury, Ontario
- Confederation College and Negahneewin College of Indigenous Learning, Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario
These umbrella agreements are renewed every two or three years. OSHKI will negotiate new partnership agreements in the coming year.
Objectives of Partnership Agreements
- Ensure quality programming
- Improve and increase opportunities for access

- Respond to employment and training needs within the communities of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation
