Partnership Agreements
Oshki-Pimache-O-Win negotiates partnership agreements with colleges and universities to collaborate in meeting the learning needs of the individuals and communities in Nishnawbe Aski Nation. These agreements provide accreditation for OSHKI programs according to provincial standards and ensure that certificates and diplomas granted to our graduates are recognized as quality academic credentials. Most funding agencies require that programs be accredited in order to financially sponsor students. Through these partnerships agreements, our students and alumni can apply for advanced standing in other college or university program.
The current partnership agreements that are in place:
- Confederation College, and Negahneewin College of Indigenous Learning , Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Cambrian College, Sudbury, Ontario
- Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), Thunder Bay, Ontario
The partnership agreements are umbrella accords which open possibilities for the negotiation of specific administrative agreements to deliver any program or course, required by individuals or communities, with any college department or university faculty.
Objectives of Partnership Agreements:
- Ensure quality programming
- Improve and increase opportunities for access
- Share beneficial resources and information
- Collaborate on the development and delivery of courses, programs and other projects
- Promote the retention and success of aboriginal students
- Respond to employment and training needs within the communities of Nishnawbe Aski Nation
- Contribute to the advancement of self-governance, sustainable economic development and self-sufficiency within the communities of Nishnawbe Aski Nation
