Network and System Accounts

About Accounts

In order to use computing facilities and services on campus you must log in with a valid network userid and password.

Getting your Network Userid and Password

Network account credentials (i.e., userid and password) are created by the systems administrator when new students are registered or when new faculty and staff are hired.  You will receive your network userid and password including other userids (see below) during your initial orientation and training.

Your network userid will be the same on all OSHKI systems you use (with the exception of Centra). It is automatically generated from a combination of the first letter of your first name and full last name (e.g., Jane Doe -> jdoe).

Your network password will be assigned by the systems administrator.

Obtaining an Email Account

Student email accounts are created when new students are registered.  Faculty and staff email accounts are created when new personnel are hired.

Your email address will be generated and setup as userid@oshki.ca (e.g., jdoe@oshki.ca).

For more information on email visit the e-mail service and support page.

Obtaining a Moodle Userid

Moodle is the online course management system for delivering online course assignments and activities to students.  It provides a virtual learning environment for students studying at OSHKI.

A Moodle account is created when new students are registered and when new instructors are hired.

Your Moodle userid and password will be the same as your network userid and password.

For more information on Moodle visit the Moodle service and support page.

Obtaining a Centra Userid

Centra (aka e-Classes) is the web conferencing system for delivering OSHKI classes and tutoring sessions over the Internet when students are off campus in their home communities.  It provides a platform for students to interact with their instructors and classmates using an Internet connected computer and headset.

A Centra account is created by Contact North when new students are registered and when new instructors are hired.

Your Centra userid and password will be mailed to you by Contact North at your OSHKI email account.

For more information on Centra visit the Centra service and support page.
