Program Description
This diploma program provides students with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills necessary to organize and maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment that ensures the total development of the young child. The social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of the child is examined through academic studies as well as practical experiences. Oshki-Pimache-O-Win ensures that the delivery and content of the full-time ECEO diploma program is culturally relevant and specific to First Nations communities.
The program is delivered in a modular format through a combination of on-campus sessions (2 weeks twice per semester) and independent distance study supported by evening tele/videoconferences. The program begins with an intensive 2 week on-campus session. Students then return to their communities to continue with their modular studies. The ECEO diploma program also includes a field work component that will provide students with experience in an actual early childhood education setting, at a location which suits their individual needs, taking into consideration their career goals. This program may be extended to allow for additional on-campus sessions.
